FAQ

What is an NFT?
NFT’s are a digital signature of sorts that can take the shape of almost anything on the blockchain that points back to a specific creator and is verifiable by anyone.
Why do NFTs matter?
NFT’s provide us with a way to use the infinite digital ledger provided by the public blockchain to see a timestamped history of owners and to token gate communities.
What is the blockchain, exactly?
Blockchain is a system of recording information in a way that makes it difficult or impossible to change, hack, or cheat the system. A blockchain is essentially a digital ledger of transactions that is duplicated and distributed across the entire network of computer systems on the blockchain.
Is this all just a scam or is it here to stay?
The technology is here to stay and here to make a big difference in our daily lives. Most current NFT projects that are traded on NFT marketplaces have scam elements and will not be around in 1 - 2 years.
What is Web 3.0?
Web 3.0 is a decentralized form of the internet where people will enjoy control over their data. The internet will be more transparent with an emphasis on personalized user experiences by using new Blockchain/NFT technologies.
What does decentralization mean and why does it matter?
Decentralization of a blockchain is a network of computers which have distributed control to ensure a blockchain is not governed by any individual, group or even the government. This promotes new environments where the users have control and decision making to eliminate the chance of bias or misjudgment by one party.
What is a smart contract?
Smart contracts are the programs coded in any blockchain language that inserts/attaches NFT’s to the transactions recorded on the blockchain.
How does this project benefit me?
NFTs are still a new idea. If you’ve had any exposure to NFTs, it has probably been a simple piece of art, with no real world applications. This project is unique because it will give NFT holders access to over $20,000 worth of goods and services WHILE also contributing to the needs of community outreach organizations and nonprofits.
How does this project help Community Causes?
Tech For Causes is bridging the gap between Community Causes that need to raise awareness and funds with individuals who are ready and willing to create an impact in their community.
Who is behind Tech for Causes?
Tech For Causes is the collaboration created when Kansas City Outreach programs (The Sending Project, Unite KC, and Catalyst Love KC), local church organizations (United Pentecostal), and local business organizations (KI Labs and YEP, Inc) came together to solve problems facing the growth of community causes.
